Why the College Transition Is Hard for Many Students

College is a major transition, especially for students still building executive function skills. The College Readiness Intensive helps rising freshmen develop the habits, routines, and systems they need to manage independence and stay on track from day one.

This program focuses on the skills that matter most for college success: time management, organization, planning, prioritizing, and follow-through. Each student leaves with a personalized plan that is practical, clear, and designed for real academic demands.

Students learn how to manage increased rigor, navigate complex assignments, and respond to the demands of campus life using tools they can apply immediately.

For families, this support provides clarity and peace of mind, helping students transition into college with structure, confidence, and independence.

What Students Will Learn in the College Readiness Intensive Bootcamp

A 6-hour small-group program designed to help rising college freshmen build practical systems for independence.

In this hands-on intensive, students learn how to manage time, track assignments, plan projects, communicate with professors, and build routines that support focus and well-being.

With a cohort of no more than six students, each participant receives individualized guidance and leaves with tools they can apply right away.

Students leave with:

  • A weekly scheduling system
  • A unified task-tracking method
  • A project-planning process
  • A communication toolkit
  • A wellness and focus routine

Includes lunch and a 30-minute follow-up coaching session during the first semester.

Built on systems. Driven by follow-through. Designed for success.

“Effective Students helped our family feel more confident about the transition to college. The focus on systems, follow-through, and independence made a real difference before freshman year even began.”
